2010 NAFA CanAm in Indianapolis - Oct. 8-10, 2010

Wow! What a weekend! The CanAm was bigger and better than ever. Six rings, including a brilliant pink ring, were busy all weekend. The weather was hot and the dogs were ready to race. On Saturday, NAFA set an Official Guiness World Record for the largest Flyball event with 810 dogs entered. Lots of great swag and a really great atmosphere was enjoyed by all.

We had three teams entered including one each of Multi, Regular and Open. Going into the event, our best time ever in Multi was 16.75. We managed to qualify fourth in the CanAm Multi with the Poker Face team with a 16.23 but were just getting started. We made it past Burnin' Rubber with a 16.20 and then went into the semi's against Rocket Relay. In our first heat, we clocked a new best of 15.77 and took the win. Brittney's Malinois Vixen was smokin' with a 3.70 while Rythm clocked a 3.61 in start. Things got a little out of hand after that and RR took the race eliminating us as they moved on to the final against Spring Loaded.

Our Open team, the Time Machine, managed a win on Friday and a second on Saturday helping move Whinny ever closer to her 50K. The Regular team didn't fare so well and so the H82LUZ name may be retired after this year. Perhaps a change of name will give us change of fortune for next year.

Our very special Box Loader, John Stopay, said it best when he noted that "We didn't come here to chicken out!" and we didn't. Some Ruff Competition proved that working together as a family of dogs and handlers was a great way to produce a winning combination. Many thanks to Deb, Marcie, Bunny, Rob, Barb, John, Cheryl, Dave, Ray, Brittney, Emily, Emma and Glenn with Holly, Tom, Carol and Heather cheering through the internet.

Our best time of 15.77 is the one of the top 5 times ever recorded in NAFA Mutibreed competition and tops the seeding list for CanAm Multibreed competition. Thanks to Dan Phillips you can watch our race with Rocket Relay. We lost but we sure had a great time doing so!
